ADL03 Glenelg update 22/01/2024

Dear Community,

We’re pleased to inform you that Repeater Three Glenelg has recently undergone essential maintenance over the past week, resulting in significant improvements to its performance. Our dedicated team has been hard at work to enhance the repeater’s capabilities, particularly focusing on optimizing signal reception and addressing issues related to antenna and diplexer combination.

Here are the key updates:

  1. Receiver Enhancement: We’ve successfully improved the receiver of Repeater Three Glenelg, boosting its sensitivity to better capture low-powered handheld signals. This enhancement aims to provide a more reliable and efficient communication experience for all users.
  2. Antenna and Diplexer Troubleshooting: Our investigation revealed a potential issue with the antenna and diplexer combination, causing variations in the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR). To address this, we made the decision to remove the diplexer and connect the repeater directly to the site’s main antenna combiner.
  3. Separate Transmit and Receive Antennas: With the removal of the diplexer, Repeater Three Glenelg now operates with separate transmit (TX) and receive (RX) antennas. This configuration not only resolves the VSWR fluctuations but also ensures a more stable and efficient signal transmission and reception.
  4. Increased RX Gain: Furthermore, the implementation of a new RX multi-coupler has resulted in a substantial gain improvement of approximately +10dB in the receive signal. This enhancement contributes to a stronger and clearer reception of incoming signals, enhancing the overall performance of the repeater.

These upgrades collectively aim to provide a more robust and reliable communication infrastructure for our community. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this maintenance period. If you have any questions or experience any issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.

Additional Upgrade: Putting Our Repeater into a 19″ Rack

In our ongoing efforts to optimize the infrastructure, we’ve identified that placing our repeater into a 19″ rack will further streamline its deployment and management. This addition will enhance the repeater’s accessibility, ease of maintenance, and overall organization.

Thank you for your continued support.
